Corey Banfield had two goals and an assist and John Clelow had three assists as the Pensacola Ice Flyers downed the Macon Mayhem 4-1 in Pensacola Friday night.The Ice Flyers outshot the Mayhem 18-5 in the first period but a strong performance by goaltender Garrett Bartus kept the Mayhem on even terms in a scoreless period.Pensacola was finally able to solve Bartus in the second period when Joe Caveney scored unassisted at 4:57. Adam Pawlick made it 2-0 at 14:26 and Banfield got his first goal of the night with 37 seconds left in the period. Pensacola had a 21-11 edge in shots in that period for a two period advantage of 39-16.Banfield picked up his second goal and Clelow got his third assist of the game at 6:16 of the third period. Michael Wills ruined Pensacola goaltender Matt Zenzola's shutout bid with 3:13 left to play. Bartus finished his busy evening stopping 45 of the 49 shots he saw.Prior to the game, the Mayhem reactivated right wing Shawn Skelly who returned to the team from loan to Fort Wayne of the ECHL. To make room for Skelly on the roster, the Mayhem waived Jeff Sanders.The Mayhem play at Columbus Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The next home game for the Mayhem is Saturday December 11 against Fayetteville at 7:30 p.m.
