Penn Gets the Call to Baltimore

Ottawa - The Baltimore Orioles outrighted recalled RHP Hayden Penn from the Ottawa Lynx. Penn, 21, was 7-4 with a 2.26 ERA this season with the Lynx and will make his first Major League start of the season today against Oakland. He was called up by the parent Orioles May 22, but never appeared with the O's because of appendicitis. He returned to the Lynx roster July 21 after recovering on the disabled list.

Penn was named the International League's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 27. He won both his starts, allowing only one run and striking out 18 batters over 13.2 innings and finished August 4-1 with a 1.98 ERA and striking out a league-leading 39 batters in 36.2 innings.
