Penguins recall Corupe, Paddock and Fata

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today recalled forwards' Kenny Corupe (kuh-ROOP) and Cam Paddock and defenseman Drew Fata from their ECHL affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers.

Corupe, 24, has recorded 22 points (6+16) and 18 penalty minutes in 31 games this season with the Nailers. He leads the team in assists and is tied for first in scoring.

The 6'1", 195-pound native of Hamilton, Ontario appeared in 58 games last season with Louisiana (ECHL), recording 55 points (18+37) and 37 penalty minutes. Corupe ranked fourth on the team in assists and fifth in scoring.

During his five-year pro career, he has skated in 189 games in the ECHL with Birmingham, Johnstown, Columbus, Louisiana and Wheeling, recording 138 points (52+86) and 149 penalty minutes. Corupe started the 2000-01 season in the AHL with the Saint John Flames, posting seven points (4+3) and 26 penalty minutes. He finished the season with the Flames' ECHL affiliate, the Johnstown Chiefs, recording eight points (2+6) and 20 penalty minutes in 12 games.

Corupe was signed by the Penguins to an American Hockey League contract on October 24, 2004.

Fata, 22, has appeared in 18 games with the Penguins this season, recording two points (1+1) and 50 penalty minutes. In six games with the Nailers this season, he has one assist and 24 penalty minutes. Fata was assigned to Wheeling for the second time this season on December 30.

Paddock, 21, is scoreless with six penalty minutes in 13 games with the Penguins this season. In 14 games with the Nailers this season, he has recorded five points (3+2) and 23 penalty minutes. He was assigned to Wheeling for the third time this season on December 30.

All three players are expected to join the team in time for tomorrow's game at Binghamton. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Following tomorrow night's game against the Senators, the Penguins will return home to host Philadelphia on Saturday (7:05 p.m. start) and Syracuse on Sunday (5:05 p.m. start) at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.

A limited number of single seats are available for Saturday's game against the Phantoms, while approximately 500 tickets are still available for Sunday's game against the Crunch.
