Bergeron, Bruins back on road

The Providence Bruins continue their stretch of six consecutive road games this weekend, beginning on Friday, January 7 when they take on the Springfield Falcons at 7:35 p.m. They also visit the Portland Pirates on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. and the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The Bruins, who are 9-1-0-3 in their last 13 games, begin the weekend tied for third place in the Atlantic Division with the Worcester IceCats. Providence is 18-11-2-5 (43 points) through its first 36 games of the season.

Bruin center Patrice Bergeron has returned to the team from the 2005 World Junior Championships, where he earned tournament M.V.P. honors while leading Canada to its first Gold Medal since 1997. Bergeron, who ranks third on the Bruins with 10-17-27 totals in 25 games, led the tournament with 5-8-13 totals in six games. The 19-year-old native Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec had missed the Bruins' last eight games while playing in the tournament, which was held in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

The Providence Bruins return home to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, January 14 at 7:05 p.m. and the Worcester IceCats on Sunday, January 16 at 4:05 p.m. The first 4,000 fans in attendance on Friday will receive a free Providence Bruins hat, courtesy of the Rhode Island Lottery and WPRI TV-12.
