
Griffins sign Brent Kelly

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Thursday signed center Brent Kelly to a professional tryout.
The 23-year-old Kelly, who has played 27 games for the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs this season, is currently tied for 10th in that league with 30 points (11-19â30). He leads the Chiefs in assists and points while placing second on the club in goals.
Kelly made his AHL and pro debuts with the Saint John Flames in 2002-03, contributing 17 points (6-11â17) in 67 outings. In 2001-02, his final junior season in the Ontario Hockey League, he paced the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds with 38 goals and 70 points.
Kelly will be available to the Griffins on Friday when they travel to Hamilton to face the Bulldogs in a 7:30 p.m. start at Copps Coliseum.
