
Penguins Rally for 3-1 Win over Cincinnati

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Sunday, November 24, 2002) - Shane Endicott, Brooks Orpik and Michal Sivek each scored a goal and Matt Murley added two assists as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins rallied for a 3-1 win over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks before a crowd of 8,310 at the First Union Arena at Casey Plaza.
The Penguins won their second game in a row for the first time this season with the win. The Penguins improved their record to 7-10-1-1 (16 points), while Cincinnati (6-7-4-2) finished their four-game road trip with a 1-1-2-0 mark.
Trailing 1-0 late in the third period, the Penguins scored three unanswered goals in a span of 4:08 in the final five minutes for the comeback win.
The rally started when Endicott, who returned to the lineup after sitting out Saturday's game (healthy scratch), tied the game with his fifth goal of the season with a wrist shot at 15:27.
A few minutes later, Orpik scored the game-winner with shot from the top of the left face off circle for his first goal of the season. Sivek added an empty net with 25 seconds left in the game to seal to the win for the Penguins.
Goaltender Sebastien Caron made 26 saves to record his second straight win and third in the last four games for the Penguins. Cincinnati goaltender Ilja Bryzgalov made 42 saves in a losing effort.
The Penguins outshot the Mighty Ducks, 45-27, including a 24-9 edge in the first period. It was the second straight game that the Penguins have recorded 40 or more shots in a game. The Penguins conclude their four-game homestand on Wednesday against the Norfolk Admirals while the Mighty Ducks begin a three-game home stand Wednesday against Milwaukee at 7:35 p.m. at the Cincinnati Gardens.

RW Tom Kostopoulos extended his point streak to three games ... After going six games without a point, Kostopoulos has six assists in the last three games ... He is second on the team in scoring with 14 points (5+9) in 19 games ... Sivek leads the team in scoring with 16 points (7+9) in 19 games ... He leads the team in goals, game-winning goals (2) and shots (60) and is tied for first in assists ... Sivek has seven points 4+3) in the last five games ... With the win, Caron improved his record to 6-9-1 ... He has a 3.09 goals against average and a .901 save percentage ... Caron is first in the league in minutes played (951) and saves (447).
