
Checkers Begin Four-Game Road Trip

WEDNESDAY'S PREVIEW: The Checkers will meet the Boardwalk Bullies for the first of six meetings in 2002-03, with each club getting three home games. Last season the Checkers went 2-1-2 against Atlantic City in the Boardwalk Bullies inaugural season in the ECHL. The two teams met in the first round of the ECHL playoffs last season, with Atlantic City beating the Checkers three games to two in the five-game series. At the start of this week, Atlantic City is tied with the Reading Royals for second place in the Northeast Division with a 10-4-3 mark for 23 points. Former Checker Kevin Colley leads the Bullies in scoring with 19 points on 11 goals and 8 assists.
FRIDAY'S PREVIEW: Charlotte will play Trenton in the first game of a six-game season series in 2002-03 Friday night at the Sovereign Bank Arena. The Titans are under first-year Head Coach Bill Armstrong, who joins Trenton after four seasons as Head Coach of the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. The Titans begin the week in fifth place in the Northeast Division with 20 points and a 9-7-2 record. Adam Edinger leads Trenton in scoring with 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points. The Titans are affiliated with the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders of the National Hockey League and the Philadelphia Phantoms and Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
SATURDAY'S PREVIEW: Charlotte will close out their week of action Saturday at Richmond. The Checkers are 1-0-1 against the Renegades so far in the eight-game season series. Charlotte lost 6-5 in overtime in Richmond on October 18, and came back to beat the Renegades 4-2 at Cricket Arena on October 23. Richmond had won six games in a row before their streak was snapped Saturday in a 4-1 loss to Roanoke at home. The Renegades start the week in first place in the Northeast Division with 24 points and a 12-8-0 record. Lars Pettersen is pacing the Renegades in scoring with 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points. Richmond is affiliated with the Washington Capitals and San Jose Sharks of the NHL, and the Portland Pirates and Cleveland Barons of the AHL.
CHECKERS RECENT MOVES AND TRANSACTIONS:
Wednesday, November 20 â Defenseman Patrick Aufiero was recalled by the Hartford Wolf Pack.
CHECKERS HAVE STILL PLAYED FEWEST GAMES: The Checkers enter this week having played the fewest number of games in the ECHL so far this season at 15.
GAMES PLAYED IN NORTHEAST DIVISION: In 15 regular season games played so far this season, the Checkers have only played seven against Northeast Division opponents.
DUSTY CONTINUES TO ROLL: Checkers rookie left wing Dusty Jamieson pulled to within three points of the Checkers scoring lead as he netted five points (2-3-5) in two games last week. Jamieson is averaging a point a game with seven goals and five points in 12 games played, has scored a goal in his last three games and has lit the lamp in four of his last five games.
EDDIE GETTING HOT: Charlotte veteran center Eddie Pershin is slowly but quietly is moving up the Checkers scoring ladder. A five point week last week (1-4-5) move Pershin into the third spot in the Checkers scoring parade with three goals and ten assists for 13 points. Eddie leads Charlotte in assists with his ten.
