February 13, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins get back to work this Wednesday, when they host the Syracuse Crunch at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. That contest begins a four games in five days streak, which will also see home games against the Binghamton Senators (7:05pm on Friday) and Philadelphia Phantoms (7:05pm on Saturday). Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will conclude the weekend with a Sunday matinee in Bridgeport against the Sound Tigers.

This is the fourth time this season the Pens will play four in five. They went 3-0-0-1 during a similar stretch between Nov. 22-26, posted a 2-2-0-0 mark from Dec. 26-30, and went 2-2-0-0 from Jan. 17-21.

The Penguins will play four games in five days three more times this season - from March 7-11, March 21-25 and April 4-6.

PENS PENALTIES PILING UP

The Penguins rank fourth in the AHL with 1,190 penalty minutes on the season, an average of 23.8 minutes per game. The Hershey Bears rank first overall in minutes per game (25.5) and second in total pims (1,328). The Norfolk Admirals rank second in minutes per game (25.4) and first in total penalty minutes (1,347), while Syracuse ranks third in both categories (25.2/1,308).

FIVE IN A ROW FOR JACQUES

Forward Jean-Francois Jacques has recorded points in five consecutive games (1+6=7) dating back to February 2. Jacques has 20 points (5+15) in 19 games with the Penguins this season, giving him a 1.05 points per game average, the third-best on the team this season (Erik Christensen - 1.5; Patrick Thoresen - 1.2) and the best among players currently on the roster.

BONVIE IS JUST GRAND

Penguins' tough guy Dennis Bonvie picked up five penalty minutes in the Pens' 5-2 win in Philadelphia on Feb. 7, allowing him to eclipse the 1,000 penalty minute mark in a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton uniform. Bonvie is the AHL's all-time leader in career penalty minutes with 4,211 in 795 games. He also currently ranks first among active AHL players in games played, and is just four games shy of tying former Hershey Bears great Frank Mathers for 27th place on the league's all-time list.

POULIOT PULLS HAT TRICK

Marc-Antoine Pouliot recorded the 15th hat trick in Penguins history on February 7 in Philadelphia.
