Rewind:

Wednesday, Devils 2 vs. Falcons 1

Grant Marshall's fifth goal of the season, at 6:33 of the third period, broke a tie score and carried the Devils to a 2-1 triumph at the Tsongas Arena. Rod Pelley scored as well for the Devils, in his first game back from a recall to New Jersey. Lowell outshot the Falcons 30-20 in the game, and Jordan Parise picked up his ninth win in net.

Friday, Monarchs 2 vs. Devils 0

The Devils fired 39 shots on Monarchs G Jason LaBarbera, but he turned them all aside for his sixth shutout of the season and second against Lowell. It was the 10th consecutive win for the Atlantic Division-leading Monarchs, who received offensive support from Kevin Dallman and Tim Jackman.

Saturday, Sound Tigers 4 vs. Devils 3, SO

Lowell and Bridgeport waged a back-and-forth battle on Saturday night that resulted in a 4-3 victory by the Sound Tigers in a shootout. Jason Ryznar, Nicklas Bergfors and Petr Vrana scored for the Devils, while David Clarkson scored the only shootout tally. Brandon Nolan had two assists in regulation and scored the shootout winner for the Sound Tigers as the 10th and final shooter.

Sunday, Bruins 3 vs. Devils 2

After averaging nearly 37 shots on goal in their previous three games of the week, the Devils were held to just 15 shots on goal in a 3-2 overtime loss in Providence on Sunday. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, Rod Pelley scored once in the second and once in the third to send the game to overtime. UMass-Lowell alum Ben Walter ended the game just 30 seconds into overtime with his 19th goal of the season.

In the standings

The Devils earned four points in the standings this week and remain tied with the Portland Pirates for fifth place in the Atlantic Division, with 53 points. They gained slight ground on the Worcester Sharks (57 points), edging one point closer to fourth place in the playoff race.

Roster Changes

The New Jersey Devils reassigned D Bryan Miller from the Trenton Titans (ECHL) to Lowell. Miller, who turns 24 on Saturday, has 4g-16a-2! 0pts in 34 games for the Titans and is their second leading scorer on the blueline. Over the weekend, the Devils received D Mark Fraser back from New Jersey. The rookie skated in one game on his recent recall, and made it back into the Lowell lineup on Saturday. On Sunday the Devils recalled rookie D Olivier Magnan from Trenton as well. Magnan, a fifth-round draft pick of New Jersey in 2006, has 10 points (1g-9a) in 45 ECHL games this season.

Coming Up

After road games against the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, the Devils return home to host the Sound Tigers on Saturday, February 17th at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a Devils baseball cap, sponsored by Pepsi. Doors open at 6:05 p.m. They go back on the road again on Sunday against the Springfield Falcons.

Around the Horns

C Rod Pelley has scored three goals in four games since his return from New Jersey. He is the first Devils rookie to hit double digits in goals.

Lowell has played in five overtime/shootout games in their last seven contests.

Sunday's 15 shots on goal was the lowest single game total this season for the Devils. The previous low was 20 shots on November 12th against Hartford.

Wednesday's game against Springfield was the first time all season the Devils have not had a power play. Lowell has had fewer power play opportunities (253 chances in 51 games) than every other team in the league this season.

RW Nicklas Bergfors tied a team high with 10 shots on goal Saturday night in Bridgeport. D Dan McGillis had 10 shots on goal November 29th against Binghamton.
