Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - In a game that started out as a great goaltender's duel, the Binghamton Senators' 21 second let down in the third period enabled the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to come out with a 4-1 victory on Saturday night.

Former Senators enforcer, Dennis Bonvie, kicked off the scoring for the Pens when he floated a wrist shot past Binghamton goaltender Jeff Glass for the 1-0 lead.

Wilkes-Barre then picked up back-to-back goals off the stick of Tomas Surovy, at 2:58 and 3:19 of the third period, to extend their lead to 3-0 and clinch the victory.

Binghamton was able to record one goal, coming with Wilkes-Barre's Ryan Lannon in the penalty box for hooking, 18:43 into the third when defensemen Filip Novak secured his fourth goal of the year.

The Penguins then added an empty-net goal with only 14 seconds left on the game clock to seal the deal.

Glass was outstanding in the first two periods and turned away 32 shots in all while being saddled with the loss. Dany Sabourin picked up the win for Wilkes-Barre while stopping 42 of 43 Binghamton offerings.

Binghamton was one for five on the power play and they were able to shut down Wilkes-Barre's power-play unit on all four chances.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has now won thirteen consecutive regular season road games dating back to a 5-2 loss to the Senators on April 9, 2005.

The Sens are at home again Sunday evening for a 5:05p.m. face off with the visiting Philadelphia Phantoms. Tickets for children ages 12 and younger are only $9.50 for tomorrow night's game.
