Pensacola Pelicans News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans are pleased to announce that on Monday, May 19, all tickets purchased at the game will go directly to the Autism Society for Autism Awareness Night. Along with being Mutt Monday sponsored by Navy League and Cat Country, Autism Awareness Night should be a special night at Pelican Park.
Resort Realty, another co-sponsor of the night's game, has already purchased $2,500 worth of tickets that have been donated. Kids for Camp families of the Autism Society have also sold 750 tickets for this cause. AIG has purchased 1,000 tickets and will be giving them away Wal-Mart customers on Pensacola Blvd. on Saturday beginning at noon.
"This is a once-a-year event in which the Pelicans partner with a not-for-profit to spread the word and to raise money, this year for Autism awareness and research," said Pelicans General Manager Talmadge Nunnari. "Susan and the Autism Society do a great job and this is one way we can help. It is going to be a special night for everyone involved."
In addition to the Autism Society receiving ticket revenue from the game, they will be highly involved in the action at the game as well. The Autism Society will have a booth set up in the park to distribute information about Autism. They will also have a representative throwing out the first pitch along with children with autism participating in various in-between inning games.
"We are so excited to have this opportunity to come out to the ballgame, have fun and raise autism awareness," said Autism Society of the Panhandle Executive Director Susan Byram. "We are grateful to the Pelicans, Resort Realty and everyone in our community who have helped make this night possible. This event will help make a difference for our children with autism at camp this summer. We hope everyone will join us and celebrate the uniqueness of autism!"
"This will be win-win for both organizations," commented Nunnari. "They have done a great job at promoting this event and selling tickets so people can enjoy a Pelicans game and help a great cause at the same time."
