
Wingnuts beat Airhogs in expansion battle

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX- The Wichita Wingnuts won their second straight road game, knocking off the fellow expansion team Grand Prairie Airhogs, 4-2 on Friday night.
Pitching was the star for the Wingnuts as Gustavo Mata allowed just two runs in 6 1/3 innings to pick up the victory. Aaron Jenkins recorded the next five outs, while Byron Embry pitched a scoreless ninth to record the save.
Brenan Herrera, who had two hits, knocked in the first run to extend his hitting streak to nine games, while Michael Thompson also extended his streak to nine games. Kevin Hooper knocked in the final run in the ninth.
The Wingnuts will play at Grand Prairie both Saturday and Sunday at 7:05 p.m. before returning home on Monday for a four-game series with the Fort Worth Cats. To order tickets or for more information please call (316) 264-4625.
