
Shreveport Defeats El Paso 4-2

Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports (3-4) took game one of a three-game series against the El Paso Diablos (5-3) Friday night at Fair Grounds Field by a final score of 4-2.
El Paso led 2-0 after five innings but the Sports were able to battle back in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three runs on two hits, to take a 3-2 lead. The Sports added one more run in the bottom of the seventh after Enohel Polanco recorded his third hit of the game with an RBI single to centerfield.
The Sports had a great performance from the pitching staff as four pitchers, Russell Savikas,Josh Bone, Matt Pilgreen and Trey Poland combined for the victory. Savikas (1-1) pitched six innings earning the win. Poland finished the game in the ninth to get his first save of the year. Justin Knoff (1-1) took the loss for El Paso after six innings of work.
Game two of the series will be on Saturday night as the Sports will send left-hander Justin Phillips (0-1) to the mound against El Paso's lefty Adam Blackley (1-0). Game time 7:05 at Fair Grounds Field. The game will be broadcast on AM 1130 KWKH.
