The five pitchers that the Sioux City Explorers sent to the mound did their collective job, combining to shutout Fort Worth at home. Sioux City starter Alexander Francisco notched the win with five effective innings in which he gave up four hits and struck out one. The bullpen would allow just two hits and one walk the rest of the way en route to the victory. SS Sam Walker led the way at the plate for the Explorers. He was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and two RBI.

Shreveport 4, El Paso 2

The Shreveport Sports rallied from two runs down to take a one run lead in the sixth inning and never looked back, hanging on for the 4-2 victory at home. Shreveport starting pitcher Russell Savickas allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and struck out two in six innings to improve to 1-1 on the year. The Sports bullpen was perfect in three innings of relief, anchored by closer Trey Poland who tossed the ninth for his first save. Shreveport SS Enohel Polanco led all hitters, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. El Paso starter Justin Knoff also pitched well, but fell to 1-1 despite his efforts. He allowed three unearned runs on five hits and struck out three in six innings.

The Sioux Falls Canaries prevailed at home in a slugfest, out-hitting St. Paul 16-15 and handing the Saints their first lost of the year in the process. After St. Paul jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning, the Canaries rallied for two in the bottom half of the frame, before blowing the game wide open an inning later with an eight run inning. Every hitter in the Sioux Falls lineup recorded at least one hit, led by 2B Josh Patton and 1B Patrick Reilly. The duo combined to go 4-for-8 with four runs scored and five RBI and a home run apiece.

The Lincoln Saltdogs got a great outing from starting pitcher Ryan Trytten to top Pensacola and improve to 3-5 on the year. Trytten allowed just two hits and struck out four in six shutout innings of work to pick up the win and improve to 1-0. The bottom of the order also proved instrumental in the win as the Saltdogs' six through nine hitters combined to go 6-for-15 with six runs scored and two RBI. Lincoln's number three hitter, 1B Dustin Yount, also made his presence felt. He was 1-for-4 with a solo home run.
