
Pelicans Swept by Blue Rocks to Conclude Homestand

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Wilmington Blue Rocks scored the go-ahead run on a balk in the ninth inning as they downed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 4-3 on Tuesday night from TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
Cam Balego wasted no time getting the scoring started for the Pelicans (20-39) on Tuesday as he belted a solo homer to left in the second to put Myrtle Beach on the board 1-0.
The Blue Rocks (37-21) came back with two runs of their own in the fourth. After a pair of singles to leadoff the inning, Wilmington executed a double steal with runners at the corners and a run came in to tie the game. The Rocks then took a 2-1 lead on an RBI single off the bat of Colby Schultz .
Myrtle Beach scratched a run across in the fourth when Grant Fennell brought home Kevonte Mitchell on a sacrifice fly, tying the game at 2-2.
In the fifth, Wilmington jumped back in front after Nick Pratto lined a double into the right field corner to give the Blue Rocks a 3-2 lead.
The Pelicans evened the game at 3-3 in the seventh when Jimmy Herron doubled and scored on a two-out RBI single from Carlos Sepulveda .
With the score tied a three in the ninth, the Blue Rocks put runners at the corners and Ricky Aracena scored on a balk from Ryan Kellogg (L, 0-4) to make it 4-3 Wilmington before Tad Ratliff came on to save it in the ninth inning.
The Pelicans will now embark on a seven-game road trip with stops at Winston-Salem and Fayetteville. The Birds will head to Winston-Salem for the first time this year on Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. RHP Erich Uelmen (1-0, 2.61) will make his third appearance for the Birds, while the Dash have yet to announce a starter.
