SALISBURY, Md. -- After a brief weather delay leading up to first pitch, the Delmarva Shorebirds bats were alive and well tonight plating 5 runs in the first three innings of their matchup with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. However, just as things got going, the skies would open up, stopping play and ultimately suspending the game heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Shorebirds got off to a hot start to begin the game, plating two runs in the top of the first. After the 'Birds would load the bases to begin the game with an Elio Prado single and two free passes, Trendon Craig singled to right field plating Prado and Isaac Bellony to give the Shorebirds the early advantage.

The 'Birds sent Ryan Long to the mound fresh off the Delmarva Injured List with Long picking right up where he left off. Long would throw two innings in his first appearance since May 22 surrendering only 1 run in the bottom half of the second.

In the third, the Shorebirds bats would continue to stay hot plating three more runs swelling the lead to 5-1. The Shorebirds would load the bases once again, but this time with no outs. Craig would quickly pick up his second RBI of the game on a forceout and then steal second base where a throwing error scored Bellony from third.

Moments later, Moises Ramirez doubled to left field, scoring Craig and solidifying the Shorebirds 4-run lead after 3-innings of play.

In the fourth, the Shorebirds would get a man on, but fail to score before the rain would pick up stopping play in the middle of the fourth inning with no outs and the Pelicans coming to bat.

Play will resume tomorrow between the Shorebirds and Pelicans at 5:05 PM with the resumption of today's game followed by the regularly scheduled contest, now a 7-inning game, at TicketReturn.com Field. Fans can tune into the game via Myrtle Beach Pelicans radio or MiLB.tv as the Shorebirds will not have a home broadcast this weekend.
