Pelicans Game Times for Memorial Day Weekend Changed
May 6, 2015 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (MAY 6, 2015) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, are changing the start times of their games over the Memorial Day weekend to 6:05 p.m. Friday, May 22; Saturday, May 23; and Monday, May 25 are now all 6:05 p.m. start times. Sunday, May 25 will remain at 6:05 p.m. as it was originally scheduled. The postgame fireworks, originally scheduled for Sunday, May 24 have been moved to Monday, May 25.
The Pelicans are making the move after consultation with the City of Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach Police Department to provide easier access to and from TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark during the busy Memorial Day weekend and Bikefest.
Thank you to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for working with the City of Myrtle Beach to evaluate the start time for the games over memorial weekend, commented Lt. Joey Crosby of the Myrtle Beach Police Department. This partnership with the city and the Pelicans will ensure that the fans have a positive game day experience. By moving the start times, we will reduce congestion on the road ways during the peak hours over the weekend.
The City of Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach Police Department are implementing a Memorial Day Weekend Traffic Loop from the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights that will direct motorists to keep traffic flowing and prevent gridlock. During these peak hours, it may be difficult for some fans to get back to their residences and hotels in a timely fashion, hence the change in the game times.
In the interest of continuing to try and provide the best possible fan experience, we have made these changes after careful consideration, explained Pelicans President and General Manager Andy Milovich. As far as we are concerned, your ballpark experience begins when you leave the driveway and ends when you make it back home safely.
Fans with questions or concerns about Atlantic Beach Memorial Day Bikefest are encouraged to contact Lt. Crosby by phone at (843) 918-1366 or via e-mail at JCrosby@cityofmyrtlebeach.com.
The 2015 season marks the 17th season for the Pelicans franchise and first as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. For information on tickets to see the Pelicans in 2015, please call (843) 918-6000, e-mail info@myrtlebeachpelicans.com, or visit www.MyrtleBeachPelicans.com.
