LAST TIME OUT: Lynchburg loaded the bases with nobody out in the eighth inning, but Carolina held the Hillcats to one run in the frame to claim a 4-1 victory in the series opener...Six different Hillcats had a hit in the game, and 2B JOE SEVER went 2-for-4, including a base hit to lead off the eighth...SS IVAN CASTILLO followed with a single, and CF CLINT FRAZIER walked to load the bases...1B NELLIE RODRIGUEZ notched his 17th RBI of the season on a fielder's choice, but that marked the lone run for the Hillcats...Carolina scored three in the fifth and another in the sixth to take control of the contest...Five consecutive hits fueled the Mudcats' rally in the fifth...C JOSE BRICENO and 2B LEVI HYAMS hit back-to-back singles...CF CONNOR LIEN doubled to left field to score one...SS JOHAN CAMARGO doubled in the next two runs, and Carolina held a three-run advantage at the end of the fifth...An unearned run in the sixth made it 4-0 in favor of Carolina...3B CARLOS FRANCO reached on an error by CASTILLO and eventually scored on an RBI double by LIEN, who finished the contest 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs...Lynchburg has now dropped six in a row...

CAROLINA: Carolina has taken two of the first three from Lynchburg in 2015...This series is the final time these two teams will meet in the first half of the season...In total, Lynchburg and Carolina will only square off 14 times, which is the fewest amount of games for one opponent on Lynchburg's 2015 slate...OF BRADLEY ZIMMER is 6-for-12 with two doubles and two RBIs against the Mudcats...For Carolina, CARLOS FRANCO has a team-high .455 average with two doubles, a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored even after going 0-for-4 yesterday...CONNOR LIEN is batting .364 with three doubles and four RBIs...Including last year when he was in Lynchburg, today's game 2 starter LHP BLAIR WALTERS has pitched 8.0 innings in the series and held the Indians' High-A affiliate scoreless on only five hits while striking out eight...

THE ROAD AIN'T NO PLACE TO START A FAMILY: Life on the road has not treated Lynchburg well to begin the year...The Hillcats are hitting a mere .205, and the team's slugging percentage is only .289...Lynchburg only has 20 extra-base hits on the road compared to 38 at home, and the Hillcats have hit nine of their 13 home runs at City Stadium...Lynchburg is only averaging 2.9 runs per game on the road, yet they average 4.9 runs per game at Calvin Falwell Field...

DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK: Lynchburg tried to mount a late-inning rally in two of its last three games against Myrtle Beach, but each time the Hillcats left the tying and go-ahead runs on base...On Sunday, a ninth-inning effort came up one run short in a 2-1 defeat...The night before, Lynchburg had the bases loaded with one out trailing 5-4, but a 6-4-3 double play ended the inning...This season, the Hillcats are 0-13 when trailing after six innings, joining the Winston-Salem Dash (0-12) and the Salem Red Sox (0-8) as the only teams in the league without a late-inning comeback victory...Last year, Lynchburg won 48 games in which they trailed at one point, including 30 in which the opponent was the first to score...This included 14 comeback victories when the Hillcats trailed in the seventh inning or later...Lynchburg has not overcome a multiple-run deficit all season and has only been able to come back from trailing by one on three occasions...
