Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have again been listed among Minor League Baseball's best selling brands. The Pelicans were in the top 25 in 2011 merchandise sales across the 160 licensed teams in all of Minor League Baseball, announced by MiLB Monday. Myrtle Beach was also named on the list in for 2010.
The MiLB National Licensing Program generated $52.2 million in sales of licensed merchandise across all of Minor League Baseball. That's the third largest number since the program began in 1991 and a 2.2% increase compared to 2010.
"Minor League Baseball merchandise continues to remain extremely popular with our millions of fans, thanks to the efforts of our clubs and licensees," said MiLB Director of Licensing Sandie Hebert said in a release. "The ability of the Baseball Internet Rights Company, since its inception in December 2008, to create, facilitate and manage the number of club stores that are on our website has also played an integral role in the continued success of our licensing program."
"We're excited to be working under a mark that has become so popular with baseball fans, " said Pelicans Merchandise Manager Dan Bailey. "Being named among the top 25 in sales across the Minors is a big honor for us. It's validated the time and effort put in to building the Pelicans brand and the response from both our local fan base and those who have taken to the team's logo and apparel from afar."
The Pelicans Pro Shop is fully stocked with new gear for 2012, featuring brand new arrivals of 'Eastbound & Down' Myrtle Beach Mermen gear. Other popular items include 47 Brand hats and apparel, official New Era on-field game and batting practice caps along with stuffed animal mascots. Fans can stop by the Pelicans Pro Shop for a full selection of team gear, or they can shop online at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com.
Myrtle Beach returns home tonight, Tuesday, May 22nd, at 7:05pm against the Lynchburg Hillcats. The Birds will host a six game homestand, culminating in a fireworks extravaganza on Sunday, May 27th. Great seats are still available by calling 843-918-6000 or by visiting online at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com, powered by TicketReturn.
