THE HILLCATS: Last night, the Hillcats beat the the Winston-Salem Dash 5-2...RHP Gus Schlosser took a no-hitter into the sixth inning for the Hillcats...RF Nick Ciolli led off the sixth with a single to break up the no-no...Schlosser would take the win after going completing seven innings and allowing just one run...The 'Cats led the whole game after a first inning two-run bomb from 2B Tommy La Stella...Lynchburg snapped a four-game losing streak with the win...The Hillcats are now 23-18 and remain in first place in the Northern Division...

VS. MYRTLE BEACH: Lynchburg makes its first trip to the Carolina's League southern-most club this week...Ticketreturn.com Field is the last site the Hillcats have yet to play at this year...The Pelicans traveled to Lynchburg May 4-6...The Hillcats took two of three...Last year, the Pelicans took the season series 11-9...

WHO WANTS THE BALL?: The Hillcats bullpen has surrendered a run in each of their last five games...The team is just 1-4 in that span and the pen has taken the loss three times...Over the five-game stretch, the relievers have thrown 13.2 innings and allowed eight earned runs, good for a 5.27 ERA...

FIVE FENDS OFF FIFTH: The Hillcats snapped a season-high four-game losing streak Sunday, winning 5-2 in Winston-Salem...They lost the last two against Wilmington at home last Wednesday and Thursday and then the first two in Winston before avoiding the sweep on Sunday...They scored two or less runs in three of the four losses...

TRAVELING SOUTH: When playing south of Lynchburg this year, the 23-18 Hillcats are just 3-7...They lost three of four in Zebulon, NC against the Mudcats, and two of three in Salem against the Red Sox...Most recently they dropped two of three in Winston-Salem over the weekend...Traveling north has been much friendlier to the 'Cats, posting a 7-2 record...

ANOTHER FLIRT: RHP Gus Schlosser went five innings without allowing a hit Sunday...His only blemish through five was a two-out full count walk in the fourth inning...The first man up in the sixth broke up the no-no...It was the second time this season that a Hillcat had taken a no-no into the sixth...RHP Cody Martin took on into the seventh in Wilmington May 9...Schlosser also struck out a career-high ten in the game...

ROAD WARRIOR: SS Nick Ahmed went 2-for-4 Sunday with a double, an RBI, and a run scored...He is 4-for-12 on the current road trip an RBI and three runs scored...This coming after going just 1-for-21 playing six of the seven games in the Hillcats last homestand...Ahmed is hitting .290 on the road this year in 18 road starts with 11 of his 16 RBI on the season...At home, he is hitting just .232 through 21 starts...

FIRST HIT: C Chad Comer made his Advanced-A debut with the Hillcats Sunday...Singled in his first at-bat and finished the afternoon 1-for-3...The 29th round pick in 2011 split time between the Rookie-level GCL Braves and Danville Braves in his rookie season...Was recieved from Extended Spring Training prior to the 'Cats current road trip...

GETTIN' HIS GROOVE BACK: 2B Tommy La Stella went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI...He is now on an nine-game hitting streak since snapping an 0-for-17 slide in his final at-bat two Saturdays ago...Went hitless in three straight games (5/8-5/11)...Prior to that, he had only three games all season in which he didn't have a hit...The nine-game streak is his season-best...He is batting .353 (12-for-34) during his streak with two home runs, a double, six RBI, and five runs scored...Has just one strikeout during the streak...His 25.33 plate appearances per strikeout this season is the best in the league, next best is Dash second baseman Daniel Wagner at 18.33...

ANY WAY YOU CAN: 1B Chris Garcia went 1-for-4 Sunday...He has now reached base safely in 20 straight games (tied for seventh-best streak in the Carolina League this season), and has a hit in 16 of those games...Hitting .381 (24-for-63) in that stretch with seven doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI, and nine runs scored...Currently ranks fourth in batting (.338) and second in on-base percentage (.455) in the league...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Wilmer Font was signed as a Minor League Free Agent in 2006 at 16 years-old...Made his professional debut with the AZL Rangers in 2007...Went 2-3 with a 4.53 ERA in 14 appearances, 10 starts...Spent 2008 with AZL before moving up to Low-A Hickory in 2009...Threw a career-high 108.1 innings, 29 games, 24 starts...Struck out 105 but also walked 59...Returned to Hickory in 2010, and earned a promotion to Advanced-A Bakersfield after seven starts...Went 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in nine starts, struck out 52 and walked 32 in 49 innings...Missed all of 2011 following 'Tommy John' surgery...Was rated the 14th-best Rangers prospect heading into the 2011 season, but has dropped out of the top-30 in 2012...Was added to the 40-man roster in November, 2011 as protection from the Rule 5 draft...Has posted a 1-3 record with a 4.57 ERA through eight appearances, seven starts, with the Pelicans this season...Has struck out 28 in just 21.2 innings pitched...Makes first starts against the Hillcats tonight...
