Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers rode the bat of outfielder Carlos Peguero to a 4-3 win over the Las Vegas 51s in front of 6,673 fans at Cheney Stadium on Sunday.

With Tacoma trailing Las Vegas 2-1, Peguero hit a one-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning that provided all the offense the Rainiers would need to collect their second consecutive win over the 51s.

Las Vegas' David Cooper doubled with out to drive in the first run of the game in the fourth. The first baseman led the Las Vegas lineup after collecting three hits with one RBI.

Third baseman Brett Lawrie recorded his only hit of the day in the seventh inning with single to centerfield that scored shortstop Mike McCoy with one out and brought the 51s within a run.

Starter Luke French (8-7) earned the win for the Rainiers after holding the 51s to three runs on five hits over 6.2 innings, while walking three and fanning two. Reliever Scott Patterson picked up his fourth save with Tacoma this season following a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in the ninth.

Las Vegas starter Robert Ray (0-3) was dealt the loss after giving up four runs, three earned, on five hits with six strikeouts over six innings of work.

The Rainiers (54-55) look to extend their win streak to three games when they take the field for the third game of their four-game set with the 51s at 7:05 p.m. on Monday. Left-hander Anthony Vasquez (3-2, 3.24) is scheduled to start for Tacoma against right-hander Chad Beck (1-0, 3.60) for Las Vegas.

The game will be broadcast live on South Sound Sports 850-AM and streamed online at www.tacomarainiers.com.
