NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Esteban German goes 5-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored as the Round Rock Express beat the Nashville Sounds 8-4 in Pacific Coast League action Sunday night. The Express (64-45) and Sounds (53-56) have split the first two games of the four-game series.
The Sounds got on the board in the first inning with two runs on one hit off Express starter Martin Perez. Caleb Gindl scored the first run on Mat Gamel's fielders choice with the bases loaded. Taylor Green later scored in the inning on a balk by Perez.
Round Rock answered with a run in the second on Matt Kata's RBI single. Val Majewski scored the run after singling to right field and stealing second base. Nashville charged right back with two more runs in the bottom of frame on Gindle and Green's RBI singles. German scored in Chad Tracy's RBI single in the third inning to make the score 4-2.
The Express took a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning. Kata hit his 11th home run of the year, a solo shot, to bring the game within one run. Kevin Cash and Nick Green scored the tying and go-ahead runs on German's two-out RBI double to right field.
The Express added single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to push the score to 8-4, a tally Round Rock would eventually win by.
