PawSox Take Pitchers' Duel

Ryan Lavarnway belted a solo home run to left field with one out in the top of the nnth inning on Tuesday night, as the PawSox shaded Syracuse, 1-0. An epic pitchers' duel between starters Justin Germano of the PawSox and Yunesky Maya of the Chiefs, went scoreless until Lavarnways' game winner. Ryan had homered on Monday night, as well. His first of the year came in his 39th at bat. It took just 4 at bats for his second. The home run came against loser Josh Wilkie (0-1).
Germano hurled 7 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out 5. Germano has not walked a hitter this season (17 innngs). Brandon Duckworth pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth for the victory. Brandon improves to 2-0. Maya matched Germano pitch for pitch. Maya did not allow a run to the PawSox in 7 and a third innings.
The series continues on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. Aaron Cook (2-0) faces lefty John Lannan (0-2).
