GAME #13 - ROAD GAME #6 - 7:05 P.M.

ROCHESTER RED WINGS (6-6) at EMPIRE STATE YANKEES (4-7)

RHP DARYL THOMPSON (0-2, 4.00) vs. LHP MIKE O'CONNOR (0-0, 1.59)

EMPIRE STATE OF MIND: The Rochester Red Wings tonight play the 2nd game of their 4-game "road" series against the Empire State Yankees at Frontier Field, continuing their 6-game road trip that started at Lehigh Valley (Phillies). The Wings are in the midst of playing 10 games in a row in the Flower City through April 26. The club's first of 5 offdays (excluding the All-Star Break) falls during this stretch on Monday.

a The Red Wings' 8 road games against the Yankees at Frontier Field will wrap up May 4. The next 8 will feature the Wings as the home team.

a The Red Wings are 12 games into a stretch of playing 18 days in a row to open the season. After the first offday on Monday, Rochester will play a season-high 29 days in a row through May 22.

a The Red Wings' first 39 games are within the IL North Division, a stretch that runs through May 14. The first interdivision opponent to lock horns with the Wings is Louisville (Reds) on May 15.

OVER AND DONE WITH: The Red Wings snapped their 4-game losing streak last night with a come-from-behind 5-3 win against the Yankees, getting back to .500 at 6-6. The 2011 Red Wings also started the year 6-6, and went on to lose 3 in a row and 5 of 6 en route to finishing April with a 9-12 record.

a A win tonight would give Rochester its best 13-game start since 2007, when it was 10-3. The 2007 club finished April with a 13-4 mark.

DON'T JINX IT!!: The Red Wings have played their first 12 games without a postponement due to weather, the longest such streak to start a season since 2005. The club's 14th game that year, an April 20 clash at Buffalo (Indians), was rained out and played as part of a doubleheader the next day.

a The Red Wings last year endured 5 postponed games in April, 2 of which weren't made up until July.

TURNAROUND TIME: The Red Wings have scored an International League-low 37 runs in 12 games, averaging 3.1 runs per game. Rochester has given up just 45 runs, however, an average of 3.8 per game.

a At -8, the Red Wings are one of 6 teams in the league with a negative run differential, joining Buffalo (-6), Durham (-18), Louisville (-10), Norfolk (-7), Empire State (-5), and Syracuse (-13). With a 6-6 record, the Red Wings are tied with Durham (oddly) for the best record among this group.

a Rochester last night scored 4 runs in the 5th inning for just its 7th "crooked number" in 105 offensive innings, its first since scoring 2 runs in the first inning Friday vs. Pawtucket (Red Sox). The Red Wings' largest single-inning tally was 5 from the 7th inning on Opening Day at Syracuse.

a The Red Wings haven't been outhit by an opponent since losing 10-1 vs. Pawtucket Thursday, when the PawSox had a 13-5 advantage in hits. Despite recording more or as many hits as their opponent in the last 4 games, the Red Wings are just 1-3 in that time.

CLUTCH PERFORMERS: The Red Wings last night banged out a season-high 4 hits with runners in scoring position. The previous high had been 3, accomplished 3 times: April 5 at Syracuse (Nationals), April 10 vs. Buffalo (Mets), and Sunday at Lehigh Valley.

a The Red Wings are hitting only .224 (24-for-107) with runners in scoring position overall. That's not the lowest such average in the International League, however. Louisville (.155, 16-for-103), Norfolk (.194, 21-for-108), Buffalo (.198, 20-for-101), and first-place Lehigh Valley (.214, 21-for-98) all have lower averages than Rochester.

HIT PARADE: With Tsuyoshi Nishioka's 2-for-5 effort last night against the Yankees, all Red Wings position players on the current roster have recorded a multi-hit game except J.R. Towles and Ben Revere, who just joined the team yesterday. Darin Mastroianni went 2-for-4 in just his 2nd game with the club Sunday at Lehigh Valley.

HOLDING ITS OWN: The Red Wings pitching staff ranks 5th in the league with a 3.40 ERA. Three of the 6 IL North Division teams are in the Top 5, including Pawtucket, which ranks first with a 2.44 ERA, and Lehigh Valley, which ranks 2nd with a 2.47 ERA.

a Red Wings starting pitchers have turned in 3 quality starts in a row, accomplishing the feat for the first time since July 24-26, 2011. Wings starters last notched 4 straight quality starts July 19-22, 2010, when David Bromberg, Anthony Swarzak, Glen Perkins, and Matt Fox turned the trick. Red Wings starters are 4-3 with a 2.86 ERA (20 ER/63.0 IP) in 2012.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS: Eleven of the Red Wings' first 12 games have been decided by 3 runs or less. Even with a 10-1 loss Thursday vs. Pawtucket, a save has been recorded in each of Rochester's 12 contests. Three different Rochester relievers have recorded at least one save, including Casey Fien (2), Tyler Robertson, and Anthony Slama, who has a team-leading 3.
