BUFFALO, N.Y. - After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, the Pawtucket Red Sox scored five unanswered runs to defeat the Buffalo Bisons, 5-2, on a cold and foggy Monday night at Sahlen Field.

Playing through heavy fog in the bottom of the second inning, the Bisons (2-3) plated a pair of runs. Before the third inning began, the game entered what ended up as a 32-minute fog delay.

From there, the PawSox grabbed a run in the third on a sacrifice fly from Rusney Castillo. Trailing 2-1 in the seventh inning, Mike Miller laced a two-run single into right field to plate Josh Ockimey and Tony Renda and vault Pawtucket ahead, 3-2. An inning later, Ockimey yanked a two-run blast to right field - his first long ball of the season - to add insurance.

Renda (2-for-4), catcher Juan Centeno (2-for-3, BB) and Miller (2-for-3, 2 RBI) each collected multi-hit nights. Michael Chavis, in his second regular-season professional start at second base, handled all eight plays at his position, including a nifty short-hop pick to his right with the infield in and throw to the plate to nab a runner.

In his PawSox debut, Ryan Weber battled through the fog and tossed four innings of two-run ball. From there, relievers Travis Lakins (2 IP, 3 K), Trevor Kelley (1 IP) and Jenrry Mejia (2 IP, 2 K) combined on five shutout innings out of the bullpen.

The PawSox continue their series in Buffalo on Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. Pawtucket right-hander Mike Shawaryn (0-0, 5.06 ERA) is scheduled to oppose Bisons righty Jacob Waguespack (1-0, 1.50 ERA). Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 5:35 p.m.

Pawtucket's home opener is slated for Thursday (April 11) at 6:05 p.m. Good tickets are available, and fans can visit the McCoy Stadium box office, which is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and during all home games. Fans can also call (401) 724-7300 or log on to PawSox.com for tickets.
