Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC - The International League office has announced Durham Bulls infielder Jake Cronenworth has been named the league's Batter of the Week. Over the season's first four days, the infielder leads the circuit with a .722 batting average (13-for-18), 13 hits, five doubles, eight runs scored, 18 total bases and a .737 on-base percentage.

Cronenworth, 25, started the 2019 season with the Bulls after spending most of 2018 with Double-A Montgomery. The Michigan native hit .254 with four home runs and 50 RBIs for Montgomery last season (108 games). Cronenworth reached Durham late in the year and played seven games with the Bulls in 2018, hitting .240 (6-for-25) with two RBIs over that span.

A seventh-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft out of the University of Michigan, Cronenworth has spent his entire career in the Tampa Bay Rays system. Over 411 MiLB games, the left-handed batter has hit .277 with 12 home runs and 177 RBIs.

The award marks the first of its kind in Cronenworth's career, having never won Batter of the Week honors. He has previously been named a 2015 New York-Penn League Midseason All-Star (with Hudson Valley), a 2016 Midwest League Midseason All-Star (with Bowling Green) and a 2017 Florida State League Midseason All-Star (with Charlotte).

The Bulls host their home opener on Thursday, April 11 at the DBAP. Single-game tickets, 919 Club memberships and group outings are available now at durhambulls.com or by calling 919.956.BULL.
