St. Cloud, MN - Chris Paul tallied his 200th career hit for the St. Cloud Rox Tuesday night as the Rox were defeated by the Waterloo Bucks 11-5 at Joe Faber Field. The Rox held a two-run lead going in to the eighth inning, but the Bucks rallied for eight runs in the final two innings to take the win as St. Cloud is now 9-6 in the second half of the season and 28-22 overall.
Tim Faix threw a strong performance in the starting role for the Rox, going the first seven innings while allowing one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts and left the game with the Rox leading 5-3 to pick up the no-decision after the Bucks rally. The Bucks scored their first two runs in the top of the second before the Rox recorded three in the bottom, coming from six hits in the inning as Eric Loxtercamp singled to bring in Boo Vazquez and Seth Heck, and give the Rox the lead.
Clay Ardeeser knocked in the next two runs for the Rox, scoring Loxtercamp on an RBI-putout in the fourth and Loxtercamp again in the sixth with a single to give the Rox a mid-game cushion. From there, Ben Lumsden and Kevin Burgee split the eighth inning for St. Cloud as the Bucks went for five runs on six hits in the inning to take the lead. Waterloo did not stop there as they came back for three more in the ninth inning off reliever Chad Hockin to give them their final lead of the game, 11-5.
Paul finished the night 3-for-3, including his 200th hit in a Rox uniform which came in the sixth inning as he remains the all-time leader for hits in Rox history. Loxtercamp also finished with three hits, as well as two runs scored and two RBIs as the Rox totaled 11 hits as a team.
