Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Battle Creek, Mich. - The Kingfish took on the Battle Creek Bombers in the last game of the road trip, looking to end on a high note and cap off the successful road trip with a win. The Kingfish struggled to produce runs on the rainy, cold night and fell 5-2.
King Elvis' crew fell behind early but scored one run in the third inning after loading the bases with no outs. Zach Ratcliff hit a sacrifice fly to push across Taylor Douglas and to make the score 2-1 after three innings.
They added one more in the fifth after Ratcliff reached on an error to lead off the inning. He was then driven in on a Spencer Gaa sacrifice fly. The Kingfish showed promise in the seventh with the bases loaded once again, but could not make anything of it and were held to two runs.
Justin Peters started the game and similar to last night, had difficulty settling in. He went four innings, finishing with five hits, three runs and four strike outs. Callahan Brown tried his hand at the Bombers and went almost three innings, striking out seven to give the Kingfish a chance but Battle Creek's pitching was steady and maintained their lead. The Kingfish used four pitchers total to keep the Bombers at five runs on the night.
On the six game road trip, the Kingfish end with a 3-3 record. They sit in fourth place with eyes on moving up in the standings after this coming weekend's affair against the seventh place Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
The team returns to historic Simmons Field tomorrow night. The 7:05 p.m. game will celebrate "What If Night" presented by Snap-On. Friday, July 18th will be Lee Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric Twins Turn Back The Clock Night.
The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on 7-game packs, season or group tickets, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900.
