
Pats Deal Valis to Cougars for Former First Round Pick Buczkowski & Two Draft Picks

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats have traded 2004-born forward Borya Valis to the Prince George Cougars in exchange for 2006-born defenceman Tyson Buczkowski, a third round pick in 2026 and a fourth round pick in 2024.
"First off, want to thank Borya for his time with the Pats, and wish him the best with the Cougars," Regina Pats VP, Hockey Operations & GM Alan Millar said. "We are pleased to add Tyson and additional, important, draft capital. Tyson is a talented, skilled, offensive defensemen, that will be an important part of both our team's present, and future."
Valis, 19, produced 33 points (13G-20A) in 35 games this season with the Pats, and is currently riding a career-best 10 game point-streak. The Denver, CO product recorded 48 points (20G-28A) in 55 games last season. The 6-foot-2, 185 lb. right-winger tallied 106 points (44G-62A) in 147 career games with the Pats over parts of three seasons with the club after being listed by the Pats in 2020.
Buczkowski, 17, has tallied nine points (2G-7A) and a +9 plus-minus rating in 36 games with the Cougars this season. The Saskatoon, Sask. product was drafted in the first round (15th overall) by the Cougars in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. Last season, the 5-foot-11, 177 lb. left-shot defenceman tallied four points (1G-3A) in 13 games as a call up with the Cougars, as well as 22 points (8G-14A) in 18 games with the Saskatoon Blazers U18 AAA team. Buczkowski represented Canada U17 level in 2022 and was a Sask. U18 AAA Hockey League Champion with the Blazers last season.
The Pats organization would like to welcome Tyson and his family to the Pats and the City of Regina. The Pats would also like to wish Borya all the best in Prince George and thank him for his efforts to the club and the community over the last three seasons.
