Silvertips Close out 2023 with 5-4 Win in Kent

KENT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips closed out 2023 with a bang Saturday night, besting the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-4 at accesso ShoWare Center.

Teague Patton opened the scoring at 3:58 in the first period, then fired a shot tipped by Rylan Pearce at 9:21 to help facilitate an early 2-0 Tips lead. They extended their advantage to 3-0 4:49 into the second as Lukas Kaplan deflected a Cameron Sytsma shot from the point to notch his second career WHL goal.

Seattle clawed all the way back, as Simon Lovsin snuck two shots past Tyler Palmer at 8:56 and 17:10 in the second period respectively. Sawyer Mynio brought the T-Birds back to even with a 4-on-3 powerplay one-timer, his eighth goal of the year.

Everett reclaimed the lead at 10:57 in the third, as Patton stole the puck in the attacking zone and bested Grayson Malinoski blocker side for his second of the game and 15th of the season. Ben Hemmerling tacked on a rebound goal at 13:05, his 13th.

Though Coster Dunn struck with the Seattle net empty at 18:20, the Silvertips held firm for a 5-4 victory. Tyler Palmer stopped 29 of 33 in the win, his 14th of the year and 50th of his career.
