Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have swung a trade with the Regina Pats, acquiring overage defender Parker Berge [pr. BURG] in exchange for Ty Gibson and a 2025 second-round pick.

Berge, an '03-born Edmonton, AB native, is skating in his fourth full WHL season. Serving as an alternate captain for the Pats this campaign, Berge ranks fourth amongst all WHL defenders and second on the Regina roster in scoring with 10 goals and 27 assists in 36 games played. He led all Regina skaters with 11 assists on the powerplay- a mark that is even with Ben Hemmerling and Dominik Rymon for most of any Silvertips skater as well.

"Parker brings an offensive asset to our group," commented Silvertips general manager/head coach Dennis Williams. "We felt right now that we would like to add some depth to our offense and we felt like Parker checked those boxes for us. Speaking to people [in Regina], he's a good team-first character guy, which is always important for our group. We wanted to make sure we were doing our due diligence making sure we're bringing in not just a good hockey player, but a really good teammate and person as well."

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound Berge logged 22 points in 68 games last season on Regina's blueline as they took the Saskatoon Blades to a Game 7 in the opening round of the WHL Playoffs. Originally drafted in the eighth round of the 2018 WHL Draft, he has recorded 15 goals and 59 assists for 74 points in 183 career games.

Gibson to this point in the season has collected two goals and 14 assists in 37 games played. Originally selected 64th-overall in the third round of the 2018 WHL Draft, Gibson appeared in 187 games as a Silvertip with 56 career points.

"It's really tough [to part with Ty]," Williams noted. "Being able to coach him and see him grow and develop not just on the ice but into a leadership role, I can't say enough about what he's done for our program. He's a good teammate and a good person. We can't thank him enough, and we as a team think the world of him. At the end of the day, it's once a Silvertip, always a Silvertip."

Parker Berge is expected to make his Silvertips debut tomorrow afternoon as Everett hosts the Edmonton Oil Kings at 1 p.m.
