Tigers Acquire Pacheco from Rockets

Medicine Hat, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers have made a trade with the Kelowna Rockets Sunday, December 31, 2023.

The Tigers have acquired '05 born forward Marcus Pacheco (Edmonton, AB) in exchange for 05 ‚¬Â² born forward Brett Calhoon (Oliver, BC) and a 3rd round pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft and a 5th round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

Pacheco, 18, has played in 14 games with the Rockets this season, scoring 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) with a +/- of 4.

While in the 2022-2023 season in 62 games played with Kelowna, Pacheco had 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) with four power play goals and one shorthanded goal.

In his WHL career, Pacheco has suited up in 133 games with the Rockets, accumulating 42 points, (15 goals, 27 assists) with 7 career power play goals.

Tigers Head Coach & General Manager Willie Desjardins says he's looking forward to adding Pacheco to the line-up.

"We've always like the way Marcus plays the game, he says." "We wanted to draft him in the in the third round of the 2020 draft and were a pick away from getting him. We're excited for him to be a Medicine Hat Tiger. He brings speed and skill that will strengthen our hockey club's depth."

Calhoon, 18, played in 29 games this season with the Tigers, 37 in his career. Scoring three goals & seven assists with a +/- 8.

Desjardins wishes Calhoon wishes him well in Kelowna.

"We want to thank Brett for all his contributions on and off the ice as a member of the Tigers," he says. "His development has improved vastly since being an affiliate with us last season and as a full-time player in the WHL this season, it's an opportunity for Brett to play closer to home and we wish him all the best with the Rockets."

Pacheco will join the team New Year's Day, the next Tigers next game is a home tilt with the Red Deer Rebels, Tuesday January 2, 2024. Pacheco is expected to be in the Tigers line-up.
