Pats Acquire Shantz and 2023 Third Round-Pick from Cougars for Dubinsky

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats Hockey Club has acquired 2005-born forward Zackary Shantz and a 2023 third-round pick from the Prince George Cougars in exchange for 2002-born forward Cole Dubinsky.

Shantz, 17, has appeared in four games with the Cougars this season. The Sucker Creek, Alta. product registered 57 points (23G-34A) in 28 games last season with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep program. Those 57 points led the team in scoring, while his 23 goals were tied for first. The 5-foot-10, 145 lb. forward was drafted in the third round, 66th overall, by the Cougars in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft after producing 52 points (34G-18A) in 33 games with the Grande Prairie Storm U15 AAA program.

Dubinsky, 19, tallied seven points (2G-5A) in 11 games this season with the Pats. The Ardrossan, Alta. product had 49 points (20G-29A) in 61 games last season with the Pats, setting career highs in goals, assists and points. The 5-foot-11, 192 lb. played in 203 games with the Pats over parts of six seasons, recording 103 points (38G-65A) in 203 games. He was previously drafted in the fourth round (#79) in the 2017 WHL Prospects Draft.
