
Patriots sign former major league pitcher Carl Sadler

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball have announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Carl Sadler.
Sadler has Major League experience with the Cleveland Indians organization in 2002 and 2003. In those two seasons Sadler pitched in 42 games and posted an ERA of 3.60 and recorded 33 strikeouts in 30 innings of work.
He has three seasons of Triple-A experience in the Indians organization and has spent time in the Montreal Expos minor league system.
Sadler spent 2004 with the Cleveland Indians Double-A (Akron) and Triple-A (Buffalo) affiliates. He played in 26 games last year and had three saves and 45 strikeouts in 47.1 innings pitched. Sadler had a 2.93 ERA in 23 games with Akron last season.
Sadler has a minor league career record of 22-18 with 12 saves in 182 games. He has a career ERA of 3.98 and 333 strikeouts in 387 innings pitched.
Sadler has been activated for Friday night's game against the Camden Riversharks.
The 2005 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, June 3rd when the Patriots return to Commerce Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks. The game includes Baseball Card Strips (Series 2) for the first 2,000 fans in attendance, courtesy of Stop & Shop.
