Patriots pitcher Tollberg named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots have announced that right-handed pitcher Brian Tollberg has been named the Atlantic League Pitcher Of The Month for June.

Tollberg finished the month with a 4-1 record, a 3.21 ERA, 19 strikeouts, and two walks in five starts for Somerset.

Tollberg currently is among the Atlantic League leaders in pitching with a 9-2 record, a 2.30 ERA, and 43 strikeouts in 86 innings pitched in13 games started.

Tollberg was recently named to the Atlantic League All-Star Game to take place in Atlantic City on Wednesday, July 13th.

"Brian has shown from the very start of the season that he is one of the top pitchers in the league. He had a great first two months of the season and deserves the recognition as the pitcher of the month for his outstanding play," said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Tollberg joins pitchers Matt Carnes, Justin Jensen, and Robert Dodd as pitchers selected from Somerset to receive the Pitcher Of The Month honors.

The Somerset Patriots are currently in a pennant race for the Atlantic League South Division First Half Championship. The Patriots have a three game lead over the Camden Riversharks with five games remaining before the All-Star Break.

The 2005 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will remain at home for the final five games of the first half of the season.
