After Newark (31-33) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with single runs in the third and fourth innings, the Pride (40-25) tied it in the fourth on a two-run homer by Brian Becker, his league-leaading 18th of the season. Earlier in the day, Becker was named the Atlantic League Player of the Month for June.
Nashua starter Brian Looney worked eight solid innings, allowing just one earned run. Jason Blanton came out of the Nashua bullpen to worked two-and-two-thirds innings of hitless relief before Goeff Goetz took over in the 11th inning to get the final Newark out. Goetz got credit for his first Nashua victory (1-0).
Giancarlo Alvarado (1-1) suffered the loss for the Bears. He was the fifth and final Newark pitcher of the night.
