The Nashua Pride of the Atlantic League announced Tuesday that Jimmy Mann and Jason Pearson have been signed by the Boston Red Sox.

Mann and Pearson will report immediately to the Red Sox Eastern (AA) League affiliate, the Portland (Maine) Sea Dogs. Portland is currently playing a series in Trenton, NJ.

The 30-year-old Mann is the Atlantic League leader in saves with 16. The 6'3, 220 pound right-hander has compiled a 1-2 record with the Pride and an impressive 1.50 ERA. Mann worked 30 innings for the Pride in 31 appearances, striking out 37. Atlantic League opponents hit just .160 against Mann who is in his 12th pro season. The Brockton, Massachusetts native has Major League service to his credit with the Mets, Astros, and Pirates. Mann was recently named to represent the Pride in the 2005 Atlantic League All-Star Game.

Pearson, a 29-year-old left-hander, pitched at the AA level last season for Carolina of the Southern League. In 30 relief appearances for Nashua, Pearson has a 6-1 record with and ERA of 1.69. Opponents batted .191 against Pearson who surrendered just two home runs in 32 innings.

In announcing the departure of Mann and Pearson, Pride general manager Todd Marlin said, "Jimmy and Jason were both spectacular for us and two of the big reasons we were able to clinch the First Half North Division title, Jason has been great in the set-up role and Jimmy has been a "lights out" closer. This is a league of opportunity and I'm certain they will both be great assets to the Boston organization."

With the signings of Mann and Pearson, the Pride have now sent four players from this season's roster to Major League organizations. Earlier, OF Peter Bergeron was signed by the Baltimore Orioles and SS Tomas DeLaRosa by the Colorado Rockies.

The Nashua Pride play their home games at Historic Holman Stadium, New England's most beautiful ballpark. For more information contact Ken Cail, Pride Media Relations Director at (603) 860-1844.
