Pride's Becker named Atlantic League Player of the Month

The Atlantic League announced Tuesday that first baseman Brian Becker of the Nashua Pride has been named the league's Player of the Month for June.

The 30-year-old Becker paced the Pride to a record of 20-11 in the month by batting .369 with 38 hits including eight doubles, 9 home runs, and 27 RBI. In addition, Becker scored 23 runs, had a slugging percentage of .709, and an on-base percentage of .456.

Becker made his Pride debut on May 5 and his acquisition is one of the main reasons the Pride were able to clinch the Atlantic League's First Half North Division title this past Sunday.

The Tempe, Arizona native ranks first in the league in home runs with 17, tops the circuit in slugging percentage (.633), tied for the league-lead in extra base hits with 30 and tied for the lead in RBI with 48.

Becker homered in his first at-bat as a Pride starter on May 6 against Atlantic City.

The Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Month is right-hander Brian Tollberg of the Somerset Patriots who was 4-1 with a 3.21 ERA during June.
