CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees and the Charleston RiverDogs have jointly announced that Pat Roessler, currently the parent organization's director of player development, has been named the RiverDogs' field manager.

He replaces Bill Mosiello who announced his resignation late Monday after a year-and-a-half at the helm. Mosiello left the RiverDogs, the Yankees' Class A affiliate, to become an assistant baseball coach at the University of Southern California.

Roessler, a 47-year-old native of Phoenix, has served as a hitting coach in the Montreal Expos and the Houston Astros organizations, and also served as an assistant coach at Old Dominion University. Roessler will join the RiverDogs Wednesday night as they play the Rome Braves at 7 p.m., and makes his debut in Charleston on Saturday, as the RiverDogs begin a four-game homestand against the Asheville Tourists.

Prior to joining the RiverDogs in Rome, Roessler, who attended the University of Arizona, served the Yankees as its director of player development and was based in Tampa.

"Pat Roessler is a tremendous baseball man and we're excited to have him in Charleston," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "We look forward to working with him during the second half of the season.

"At the same time, we wish Bill Mosiello and his family the very best," Echols added. "He did a great job here in Charleston with the development of players and helping put a quality product on the playing field for our fans to enjoy."
