Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON)- The Petes Partners in Education program, in conjunction with the Peterborough Northumberland Crime Stoppers, Peterborough County City Health Unit, and the Canadian Mental Health Association Kids on the Block program, is underway once again this season. 430 students attended the inaugural visit of the 2015/16 season at Monsignor O'Donoghue Elementary School in Peterborough.
Through the program, Petes players visit local schools alongside members of the aforementioned organizations. Students at each school discuss the following topics:
- Mental health, goal setting, healthy lifestyles, friendship and teamwork with the CMHA Kids on the Block puppet show
- Crime prevention and community safety with the Peterborough Northumberland Crime Stoppers
- Living a tobacco-wise lifestyle with the Peterborough County City Health Unit's "Love My Life" talk
Petes players in attendance help deliver each message, continually interacting with the students. Following the presentation, students can meet the players and take part in an autograph signing.
In 2014/15, eighteen schools and 4,000 students participated in the program. If you are interested in having the Partners in Education program at your school, contact Petes Community Events and Marketing Coordinator, Matt D'Agostini at (705) 743-3681 ext. 227.
