On Sunday, Sun Life Financial held their annual Skate with the Rangers at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.

Sun Life Financial has teamed up with the Kitchener Rangers to help more kids get into the game we all love - hockey! During the Skate with the Rangers a cheque for the amount of $10,000.00 was presented to the Kids In Gear program.

The Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear program assists with the collection and purchasing of hockey equipment for youth who require support in order to play our national pastime. The program assists with everything from supporting minor hockey associations to helping offset the costs of registration.

Over the past four seasons the Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear program has collected over $98,000 in monetary and equipment donations for more than 500 deserving families throughout our region, including more than $54,000 raised last year alone, helping 167 local kids achieve their dream of playing hockey.

Every year the Kids In Gear program strives to increase both the amount of donations and the number of families helped through multiple initiatives, including the Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear Charity Drive Car Draw and the Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear Equipment Drive.

CHARITY DRIVE INITIATIVE

The Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear Charity Drive Car Draw is giving one lucky fan a chance to drive away in a brand new 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport!

Tickets are $20 each or 3-for-$50. Those who purchase tickets by November 9th will also have a chance at the Early Bird draw on November 10th which includes the following prizes:

(1) Kitchener Rangers Prize Pack - valued at $2,530.00

- A pair of 2016-17 Kitchener Rangers season tickets

- Suite Night (Suite 23, including eight tickets for Sunday, January 24th vs. Flint Firebirds at 2pm)

- $500 Sobeys gift card

(1) 2016-17 KMHA base registration fee - valued at $600.00

(1) 2016-17 KMHA base registration fee - valued at $600.00

(1) Week at the 2016 KMHA Summer Hockey Skills Camp - valued at $300.00

(1) Base registration fee for KMHA 4-on-4 - valued at $300.00

To support the Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear initiative and for your chance to win, tickets can be purchased the following ways:

- during every Friday home game between September 25th and January 1st of the Rangers 2015-16 season

- at the Kitchener Rangers office, 400 East Avenue (Monday - Friday from 9:30am-1pm and 2pm-5pm) located on the Ottawa Street side of the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex via Parking Lot 'A'

- at the KMHA office, 135 Lennox Lewis Way (Mondays 9:30am-4:30pm, Tuesday-Friday 12pm-8pm)

-at Forbes Waterloo Toyota, 300 Weber Street North, Waterloo

The deadline to enter for the grand prize draw is Wednesday, January 5th, 2016 at 12pm, but be sure to act quickly as only 7,500 tickets are available.

The grand prize draw will take place Sunday, January 10th when the Rangers host the visiting Kingston Frontenacs at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex at 2pm. For tickets to the game, click here.

EQUIPMENT DRIVE INITIATIVE

The annual Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear Equipment Drive runs from November 2-13, 2015 at various locations around Kitchener-Waterloo. Bring your new or gently used gear to any of the following locations and help alleviate costs for well-deserving families in our region.

Forbes Waterloo Toyota - 300 Weber Street, North Waterloo

Forbes Motors Inc. - 165 Weber Street, Waterloo

Forbes Waterloo Mazda - 115 Northfield Drive, Waterloo

Sun Life Financial King - 227 King Street South, Waterloo

As well, you can also make your donation before any Kitchener Rangers home game in the month of November by bringing your items to the drop-off bin located in the main lobby of the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex at the Ottawa Street/Stirling Street entrance.

This season, Sun Life Financial and the Kitchener Rangers are also working with artist David Arrigo to bring the Kids in Gear program to life through a series of goalie mask design initiatives including a Kids In Gear Mask Design contest for children 12-years-old and under, with David painting the winning design. David is a renowned Toronto artist known for his artwork across the sports/ corporate industry/private commissions including unique and bold designs including but not limited to helmets, motor vehicles and murals.

Finally, Sun Life Financial has once again generously agreed to donate $50 for every Rangers goal scored on home ice for during the 2015-16 season.

The Kitchener Rangers next home game is Friday, October 9th when they host the Windsor Spitfires at 7:30pm at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.
