Par-A-Dice All-Star Game Replacements Announced

January 13, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Tuesday announced the roster changes for the 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game.

Sponsored by the Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino and hosted by the Peoria Rivermen, the 12th Annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition will be held at the 9,919-seat Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Ill. The Skills Competition will be at 7:00 p.m. CT on Tuesday, January 20 and the game will be played at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, January 21. Tickets to the All-Star Game and Skills Competition are available by telephone at (309) 676-1040 x106.

Atlantic City goaltender Scott Stirling, Charlotte left wing Dusty Jamieson and Roanoke left wing Shawn Limpright were named as replacements on the Eastern Conference while Long Beach right wing Nick Ganga was named as a replacement for the Western Conference.

Stirling will replace Johnstown's Arturs Irbe, who is unable to play while still recovering from wrist surgery, in the lineup and as the starting goaltender. Stirling received the second most votes for starting goaltender in the original balloting among ECHL coaches.

It will be a record third appearance and a record third start for Stirling, who was voted by coaches as the starter in 2001 as a rookie and in 2003. Stirling had shared the record for most All-Star Game appearances by a goaltender with Nick Vitucci (1993 and 1997) and Bujar Amidovski (1999 and 2000). Stirling earned Most Valuable Player honors in 2003 after starting and stopping all 11 shots he faced in the first period of the Northern Conference's 8-2 win at TECO Arena in Estero, Fla. In his first All-Star Game in 2001, Stirling stopped 10 of the 13 shots he faced in the Northern Conference's 9-5 loss at Little Rock, Ark.

Stirling is 9-0-1 with a shutout in his last 10 games, allowing one goal or less in six games and two goals or less in nine games to lower his league-leading goals against average from 1.74 to 1.69. Stirling is 20-7-1 and leads the ECHL with 20 wins, is tied for second with three shutouts and ranks second with a .940 save percentage.

Limpright will replace teammate Dan Carlson, who was voted to the game as a starter, but who is currently on loan to Lowell of the American Hockey League.

Peoria's Randy Rowe will replace Carlson in the starting lineup joining Florida's Brian McCullough and Wheeling's Jason Jaffray. Rowe has scored 22 points (12g-10a) in his last 13 games and is tied for the ECHL lead with six game-winning goals while ranking second in goals with 23 and tied for 16th in scoring with 39 points (23g-16a). Rowe has a 10-game scoring streak, the longest current individual streak in the ECHL, in which he has 18 points (10g-8a).

Limpright leads Roanoke with nine power-play goals and is tied for the team lead with 18 goals while ranking second in scoring with 35 points in 27 games. The 22-year-old Limpright has also appeared in five games with Syracuse of the AHL scoring two points (0g-2a). In his first professional season in 2002-03, Limpright scored 33 points (14g-19a) in 63 regular season games and three points (1g-2a) in three Kelly Cup Playoff games with Roanoke.

Under contract to Hartford of the AHL, Jamieson will replace teammate David Inman, who is currently on loan to Lowell of the AHL. Selected in the fifth round (136th overall) by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1999 National Hockey League Entry Draft, the 22-year-old Jamieson is third on the team with 22 points and tied for fourth with 10 goals and 12 assists in 24 games while also appearing in six games with Hartford in the AHL. In his first professional season in 2002-03, the 6-2 and 174-pound Jamieson tied for the team lead with 27 goals, tied for second on the team with seven power-play goals and ranked fifth in scoring with 45 points (27g-18a) in 50 regular season games for Charlotte.

Ganga will replace injured Long Beach teammate Krzysztof Wieckowski. The 6-3 and 202-pound Ganga is tied for the team lead with four power-play goals, ranks second on the team with 10 goals, and is third in scoring with 18 points (10g-8a) in 32 games.
