Paquette and Machesney Lead Stingrays Past Road Warriors

North Charleston, SC - Forward Danick Paquette scored two goals and goaltender Daren Machesney made 28 saves as the South Carolina Stingrays (11-6-0-1) pushed their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors (9-6-3-2) Sunday afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Stingrays forward Trent Campbell kicked off the scoring at 4:48 of the first period tapping a rebound past the glove of Road Warriors goaltender Nic Riopel (L, 24 saves on 27 shots). Forwards Pierre-Luc O'Brien and Chris Higgins earned assists. Paquette made it a two-goal Stingrays lead at 15:75 from defenseman Johann Kroll and forward Anthony Maiani.
The Road Warriors cut the lead in half at 11:57 of the second period when defenseman Jeff Caister blasted a shot past Machesney from the right-wing point. Defenseman Jyri Niemi and forward Sean Berkstresser added assists.
Paquette buried his second of the game at 8:25 of the final frame with help from forwards Sean Dolan and Greg Stewart. Higgins sealed the victory for the Stingrays with an empty-net goal at 18:23 from Stewart.
The Stingrays return to action on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3 against the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.
