Jackals Work Overtime to Earn 3-2 Comeback

Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals staged a two-goal comeback on Saturday night at First Arena and earned a 3-2 overtime victory over the Reading Royals, with Rob Bellamy tapping in a puck on the doorstep in the extra session for the game winner.

Everett Sheen backhanded a loose puck in the crease past the stick of Jackals netminder Timo Pielmeier to put Reading up 1-0 at 5:27 of the opening period.

Marvin Degon extended the Royals' lead to 2-0, sending in a long wrist shot past Pielmeier's stick from the top of the slot at 4:16 of the second period.

The Jackals struck moments later to get to within a goal. After Matt Campanale's shot was blocked, the puck caromed to Mike Radja who snapped it into a gaping net from the right circle at 5:42 to make it 2-1, Royals.

Radja one-timed a puck past the glove of Royals goaltender Joe Palmer from the high slot to even the score at 13:23 of the final frame, 2-2.

After Bellamy was denied on a breakaway by Palmer in overtime, Mario Larcoque centered a puck for the fourth-year pro who pushed it past Palmer in the crease at 1:25 to give the Jackals the 3-2 victory.

The win was Elmira's first this season in which it trailed after two periods.

Pielmeier earned his first win since Nov. 5, improving to 4-5-0-0 with 25 saves. Palmer dropped to 4-4-1-1 with a 29-save outing.
