Panthers Send Markstrom to Rampage

SAN ANTONIO (February 13, 2012) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been reassigned to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). In addition, goaltender Brian Foster has been assigned to the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL).
Markstrom, 21, has played in seven games with the Panthers this season going 2-4-1 with a .923 save percentage. He made his first career NHL start on Oct. 18, 2011 at Washington, stopping 29-of-31 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Capitals. He earned his first career NHL win on Oct. 22, 2011 vs. the New York Islanders, turning away 18 shots in a third period relief appearance. Markstrom stopped 40-of-41 shots to earn his first complete game win on Oct. 24, 2011 at Montreal.
The Gavle, Sweden native has played in 14 games with San Antonio this season going 6-7-0 with a .909 save percentage. Markstrom was drafted by Florida in the first round (31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Foster, 24, has appeared in 12 games for the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) going 4-6-0 with a .885 save percentage. He has played in 10 games with Cincinnati (ECHL) this season, going 8-1-1 with a .911 save percentage. The Pembroke, N.H., native was drafted by Florida in the fifth round (161st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Rampage continue their Rodeo road trip with a back-to-back series against the Texas Stars this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Park Center. They will round out the weekend with a 4 p.m. contest against the Oklahoma City Barons on Sunday at Cox Convention Center. Follow the Rampage's Rodeo road trip progress at sarampage.com.
