Paisano promoted, Podraza rejoins 'Dads

HICKORY, N.C. - The Hickory Crawdads, South Atlantic League affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced on Tuesday that CF David Paisano has been promoted by Texas to the Bakersfield Blaze in the California League (High-A). Additionally, OF Cody Podraza has been promoted to Hickory from the Spokane Indians in the Northwest League (Short-A).
Paisano, 21, played in 72 games with Hickory this season, registering a .268 batting average with one home run and 30 RBIs. The Cumana, Venezuela, native was second on the team with 22 doubles, third with 78 hits and fourth with 45 runs scored. He also added 10 stolen bases and compiled a .333 on-base percentage, primarily serving as the lead-off hitter in the starting lineup. Paisano was selected to the 2009 SAL Northern Division All-Star Team and was also named the Texas Rangers Organizational Defender of the Month in April for his error-free play in center field during the month.
Podraza, 21, rejoins the Crawdads after spending the last five weeks with the Spokane Indians. The native of Tomball, Texas, started the season with the Bakersfield Blaze in High-A, appearing in 11 games and batting .292 with one homer and three RBIs. He then was transferred to the Crawdads on June 1 and compiled a .250 average with two RBIs and 10 runs scored in 12 games before his transfer to Spokane on June 15. With the Indians in short-season ball, Podraza has hit .274 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 27 games. He was selected by the Rangers in the 16th round of the 2006 draft out of high school.
