Hagerstown Suns News Release
Tyler Moore hit two home runs and drove in four runs as the Hagerstown Suns beat the Lexington Legends 6-2 at Applebee's Park Tuesday night.
Moore's second homer, a three-run shot in the eighth inning, came with Hagerstown holding a 3-2 lead.
The Suns broke on top in the first inning when Michael Guerrero hit a solo homer. It was his fifth home run of the year and his fourth in the series.
Lexington took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second. With one out, Albert Cartwright was hit by a pitch. Steve Brown singled, moving Cartwright to second. Jeff Hulett followed with another single, scoring Cartwright to tie the game. Brown advanced to third, and Hulett took second when the throw from the outfield went to third. Brown scored on Reinaldo Pestana's infield out to give Lexington a 2-1 lead.
Moore's first homer of the game tied it again in the fourth. In the seventh, the Suns took a 3-2 lead when Charlie Fermaint singled and took second on center fielder Jay Austin's error. Travis Reagan singled Fermaint to third, from where he scored on Nick Arata's sacrifice fly.
With one out in the eighth, Steve Lombardozzi and Guerrero singled against Lexington reliever Arcenio Leon before Moore hit his second home run over the bleachers in left field to make the score 6-2.
The Legends loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth, but reliever Ricardo Pecina retired pinch hitter Federico Hernandez on a foul pop to end the game.
Hagerstown starter Marcos Frias (7-3) was the winning pitcher. David Duncan (1-2), who pitched the first seven innings for Lexington, took the loss.
The series concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday at Applebee's Park.
