Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC -Adam Milligan hit a game-winning grand slam in the top of the eighth inning on a rainy Tuesday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium to give the Rome Braves a 4-1 win over Kannapolis.

Milligan has been a terror with the bat over the first three games of the series, but no hit was bigger than the shot he hit off Intimidators closer Dan Remenowsky. Milligan launched a 0-1 pitch over the rightfield fence to put the Braves in front for the first time. Remenowsky had entered in one batter earlier and walked Braeden Schlehuber on two controversial pitches to load the bases.

Milligan is now 7-for-10 with three home runs and eight RBIs over the first three games of the series.

The home run for Milligan meant a loss for Kannapolis starter Stephen Sauer (6-4). Sauer pitched a season-best 7 2/3 innings and gave up just the two runs that crossed on the grand slam. He struck out four and walked one.

Kannapolis took a 1-0 lead into the eighth thanks to a solo home run off the bat of Josh Phegley in the sixth. The Intimidators were held to four hits in the contest and none until the fifth inning against Rome starter Dimasther Delgado (2-5).

Jaye Chapman got his 13th save of the season and second of the series with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Three Rome pitchers combined to fan 13 Kannapolis hitters.
