Hagerstown Suns News Release
LEXINGTON, KY - For the third consecutive game, the Hagerstown Suns took a lead into the bottom of the ninth inning against the Lexington Legends. Unlike the first two games of their series, on Tuesday the Suns held on for the win, defeating Lexington 6-2.
Ricardo Pecina earned the save for Hagerstown with three innings of work, and while he did not allow a run, the left-hander did make things interesting in the ninth. Pecina loaded the bases with two outs before getting the final out on a sliding catch in foul territory by catcher Travis Reagan.
It was the first save of the season for Pecina.
The Suns got on the scoreboard first on Tuesday as Michael Guerrero hit a home run in his third consecutive game, a solo shot to left field in the top of the first inning. Guerrero has four home runs in the series and five on the season.
After Suns starting pitcher Marcos Frias gave up two runs in the bottom of the second inning, the Suns tied the score at 2-2 on a solo home run from first baseman Tyler Moore. The two runs allowed by Frias were the only blemishes in the righthander's six inning appearance.
Frias (7-3) earned the win, striking out six and walking just one while allowing six hits in the game.
The Suns took the lead in the top of the seventh inning when Charlie Fermaint scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Nick Arata.
Moore, with Guerrero and Steve Lombardozzi aboard hit his second home run of the game and ninth of the season, in the top of the eighth inning, giving the Suns the 6-3 lead.
The Suns and Legends will play the fourth and final game of the series on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Lexington currently holds a 2-1 advantage in the four-game set.
