Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Hickory, NC - The Augusta GreenJackets and Hickory Crawdads were suspended in the third game of their four-game series at L.P. Frans Stadium with the Jackets leading 4-1 in the top of the 4th inning. The game will resume Wednesday afternoon at the regularly scheduled start time of 12:05 p.m.

Wendell Fairley's two-run home run in the first gave the Jackets a 2-0 lead before the first delay of the night - a 42 minute delay with Johnny Monell at bat in the first. After the delay, Augusta added a run in the third on an Andy D'Alessio solo home run, a blast over the right field wall plus nearly 30 feet of advertising over the fence.

Eric Surkamp allowed just one unearned run through four innings of work, with four strikeouts, on just one hit without a walk.

The suspended game will be played to its nine-inning completion and will be followed by the regularly scheduled game, shortened to seven innings. Ari Ronick (6-4, 2.98) will oppose Wilfredo Boscan (4-6, 3.50) in the regularly scheduled affair. The suspended game will resume from L.P. Frans Stadium against the Crawdads at 12:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WGUS AM 1480, a special home for the weekday matinee game, as well as online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.

The GreenJackets return home for a nine-game homestand spread across ten days, starting on July 30th against the Greenville Drive. First pitch comes at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WRDW AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com. You may purchase seats by calling 706-922-WINS or online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
